Bodhi on the roady (https://bodhiontheroady.nl) is a travel blog about our adventure as a travelling couple through Europe. We take privacy seriously and handle the data we collect with care. In this privacy policy we explain what data we collect, why, and what your rights are.

What data do we collect?

1. Comments on blog posts

If you leave a comment on a blog post, we ask for your name, email address and optionally your website. Your IP address is also stored to prevent spam (via Akismet). Your email address is never shown publicly.

2. Contact form

Through the contact form (powered by SureForm) you can send us a message. We collect your name, email address and the message you submit. We use this data solely to respond to your message.

3. Analytics data

We use Jetpack Stats (from Automattic/WordPress.com) to track anonymous visitor statistics, such as the number of visitors and which pages are viewed. This data is processed anonymously and is not linked to individual persons.

4. Photos and media

Photos we upload may sometimes contain EXIF metadata, including GPS location data. Visitors to the website can download this data. We advise visitors to keep this in mind.

Why do we collect this data?

• To enable comments on the blog and prevent spam
• To respond to messages sent through the contact form
• To gain insight into how the website is used and to improve its content

How long do we keep your data?

• Comments: kept for as long as the blog post remains online, unless you request removal.
• Contact form data: kept for a maximum of 6 months after the last contact.
• Analytics data: kept anonymously and in aggregated form by Jetpack Stats.

Do we share your data?

We never sell your personal data to third parties. We only share data with the following service providers, to the extent necessary for the website to function:

• Automattic / WordPress.com (Jetpack Stats) – anonymous visitor statistics
• Akismet – spam detection for comments
• Gravatar – if you have a Gravatar account, your avatar is shown next to your comments

All of these parties are based in, or operate in compliance with, GDPR regulations.

Embedded content from other websites

Our blog posts may include embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos, maps). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited those websites yourself. These websites may collect data about you, set cookies and track your activity.

Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: you can request to see what data we hold about you.
• Correction: you can have incorrect data corrected.
• Erasure: you can request that your data be deleted.
• Objection: you can object to the processing of your data.
