After months on the road, you know exactly what makes the difference between “handy” and “how did we ever manage without this.” These are our five.
Outdoor shower setup
We 3D-printed a magnetic shower head holder and a soap tray for the side of the van. We actually use that outdoor shower every single day: a quick rinse after the beach, or a full shower moment when we’re camped somewhere in the wild. If you’re not on a campsite every night, an outdoor shower is a real must.
Buy soap that’s plastic-free and biodegradable so you can lather up outside without worry!
Magnetic fly screen
Hangs with magnets in front of the sliding door. There are also magnets down the middle, so it closes automatically behind you as you walk through. We just leave this up the whole summer: door open, no flies, no hassle. We chose this over a fixed fly screen because Bodhi can simply walk straight through it without even noticing.
Check carefully which size fits your van. For our L4H2 Ducato we ordered a 71″x59″
Omnia oven
An oven you simply place on the gas burner. Bread, cake, quiche — pretty much anything a regular oven can do. We use it at least three to five times a week. Honestly, we don’t know how we managed without it before. Every camper owner should have one.
Definitely go for this set! We use the silicone insert and the baking rack all the time!
Power block
Four power outlets and four USB ports in one compact block. We plug pretty much everything into this off our inverter. Small enough to leave on the table without getting in the way, but big enough to charge everything at once.

Outdoor blanket
Blanket and pillow in one. One side soft teddy fleece, the other smooth and dirt-repellent. Fold it into a pillow in a few seconds. We use it on travel days, on the ferry, and every cold evening once the heating goes off. Fits in a bag, has snap buttons along the edges to turn it into a sleeping bag, or to clip two blankets together.
Buy two, then you can clip them together for an extra-thick blanket or a supersized sleeping bag!
